For the Love of a Daughter tells a story of the relationship Demi has/had with her biological father. They never had much of a relationship. Her father was an alcoholic and only pretended to care for her because of the fame she possessed She cares so deeply for him and only wants him to care for her the way she cares for him.
For the Love Of a Daughter is number one on my list because of the sheer vulnerability in her voice as she sings. Demi is known for the emotion she sings with, but this song is incredible to listen to. The lyrics are so sincere and so powerful. Also, this song was deemed too intense for her fan base at the time of release, which shows how heavy this song truly is. Amazing.
2.)Skyscraper
Skyscraper manifests Demi's triumph over her self-abuse and her self-conflicts. For those of you who are unaware of Demi's breakdown, there was a period in a life (that lasted for a while) where she was bulimic, anorexic, and would cut herself. This song shows the audience that she has overcome her battle and will continue on stronger than ever.
Skyscraper is number two on my list because after everything Demi has gone through in her life, this song will not only be a reminder of how she overcame her struggles, it will be an inspiration to anyone going through similar battles Demi has gone through.
3.) Fix a Heart
Fix a Heart paints a picture of a relationship that has withered, and how her heart heart can't be mended. Demi sings about trying to patch up her relationship with the person that she loves, and everything she may have done wrong, and "You can bandage the damage, but you never really can fix a heart."
Fix A heart is number three on my list because she painfully tells her story about the unfortunate end to a relationship (which we have all been through before, making it more impacting) and how a broken heart is something that can never truly be fixed.
4.) My Love's Like a Star
My Love's Like a Star is a beautiful song that reminds whoever's listening that, "...it's not about the time that we don't get to spend together; it's about how strong our love is when I'm gone and it feels like forever." It's about a couple that doesn't get to spend much time together, but their love is so strong, that wherever each one of them are, their hearts will always remain with each other.
My Love's Like a Star is number four on my list because, like many of the other songs on this list, her lyrics are so specially crafted that you can't help but feel something when you listen to her sing it, especially if you can relate to the song.
5.) Lightweight
Lightweight, along with my number one choice, For the Love of a Daughter, is a tremendous song that expresses Demi's vulnerability. In this song, Demi says how in love she is, and how dependent her love is on the other person. She puts all of her emotions out there, and most of all, she puts her heart on the line in this song.
Lightweight is number five on my list because Demi shows that she's just like everyone else. She wants to find love, and she wants to be loved in return. This song is a perfect example of what kind of person she is. She's caring, gentle, and is aimed to find happiness in her life.
